The Ebonyi State Government has said that it has admitted over 119 suspected cases of COVID-19 and they all tested negative.
The state government made this known in a joint press briefing by the Commissioners of Health, Information and State Orientation; Dr. Umezurike Daniel and Barr. Uchenna Orji at the exco chambers, Government House Abakaliki, Ebonyi State capital.
Dr. Umezurike stated that the state government has constructed and equipped isolation/ treatment centres in Unity Square to contain the virus.
He noted that the state has equipped the centre with Ventilators, Dialysis machines, Monitors, suction machines, oxygen cylinders, regulators and concentrators.
The commissioner noted that over 119 suspected cases were admitted and tested negative, adding that the suspects hailed from south east and south south.
“We have received samples from all the south eastern and south south regions of Nigeria.
“So far, we have tested 74 cases from Ebonyi State and all came out negative. We have tested over 50 samples from other states but we don’t report their results.
“A total of 119 suspected cases have been admitted at various times and all tested negative for COVID-19 but they were managed for various other ailments and discharged,” he stressed.
