A student of Benue State University Technical College, simply identified as Emmanuel, has been electrocuted in Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
The incident happened in Achussa, a suburb of the state capital.
Narrating to journalists Thursday how the incident happened, uncle to the deceased, Samuel Olokpo, said on the morning of 19th April, 2021, officials of Jos Electricity Distribution Company, came to the house when everyone had gone to work and disconnected electric lines belonging to four households.
He said two of the neighbours quickly brought out their bills and were immediately reconnected.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?client=ca-pub-8275938780454312&output=html&h=280&slotname=5356044983&adk=1298086953&adf=1715455514&pi=t.ma~as.5356044983&w=336&lmt=1619162245&psa=1&format=336×280&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.blueprint.ng%2F15-yr-old-benue-varsity-student-electrocuted-in-makurdi%2F&flash=20.0.0&wgl=1&dt=1619162243826&bpp=4&bdt=1531&idt=1218&shv=r20210420&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D9c754d901b593a77-223cc61ae5a60007%3AT%3D1614260769%3ART%3D1614260769%3AS%3DALNI_MaA5YJlKaSfdaX9oQrYqOd94kpGeg&prev_fmts=1200×280%2C829x200%2C0x0&nras=1&correlator=5774352060417&frm=20&pv=1&ga_vid=1242393900.1614260769&ga_sid=1619162244&ga_hid=1570463324&ga_fc=0&u_tz=-420&u_his=2&u_java=0&u_h=768&u_w=1366&u_ah=728&u_aw=1366&u_cd=24&u_nplug=4&u_nmime=6&adx=291&ady=1753&biw=1349&bih=667&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=31060614%2C44739537&oid=3&pvsid=1966846348623872&pem=746&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fc.newsnow.co.uk%2F&eae=0&fc=896&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C1366%2C0%2C1366%2C728%2C1366%2C667&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CoeEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=0&bc=25&ifi=3&uci=a!3&btvi=1&xpc=NSi6mD8nzs&p=https%3A//www.blueprint.ng&dtd=1235
“JED staff came to the house to condole us. Meanwhile, we have notified our lawyers.
“He was a cool, quiet headed boy who was gifted in the art of handicraft (he used to make shoes) that is why we enrolled in a technical college,” he said.
Grand mother of the deceased, Mrs. Veronica Odo, a staff of Benue State Hospital Management Board, who was seen weeping uncontrollably, lamented that the negligence of JED staff was what caused the death of her grandson.
