The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has lambasted the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, for threatening foreign observers who may want to cover the electoral process in Nigeria from February 16.
Governor El-Rufai had on Wednesday threatened that those who intervene in the forthcoming general elections will “go back in body bags.”
Speaking on the recent vituperation from the Governor, the President of AYCF, Alhaji Shettima Yerima, said that the governor was irresponsible with his words, adding that it is “unfortunate that we have a governor who does not understand what it means to govern people.”
The youth President added that, “Such kind of comments are not too good for our nationality; it is very inciting and I’m very happy that the statement has received wide range condemnations from the international community. We are not sleeping over it.
“We are going to ensure that we file a case against him in the International Criminal Court of Justice. This is an election period and everything is possible. When a Governor behaves this way, a lot of us must be worried.
“Nigeria is a home for us. A country where we belong and our pride. We all know, probably, he has a dual passport and can easily run out of the country. We are not looking at the statement as a joke. It is not a joke anymore.”
