Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, on Saturday said if President Muhammadu Buhari returns in 2019, Nigeria may be saddled with the greatest conflict in the history of the world between Shiite and Sunni Muslims.
He made the allegation while accusing President Buhari of pushing Shi’ite Muslims into militancy and insurgency.
Fani-Kayode said the President was doing this by allegedly slaughtering the Shi’ite Muslims in their thousands for no just cause.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain, however, warned that Shi’ite may become Nigeria’s version of Hezbollah if the killings continued.
In a series of tweets, Fani-Kayode wrote: “Buhari is pushing the Shiite Muslims down the road of militancy and insurgency by slaughtering them in their thousands for no just cause.
“If he continues to do so they will eventually form their own local version of Hezbollah and fight back.
“That, coupled with a strengthened and ever confident Sunni Boko Haram and ISWA army waging war against the Nigerian people would be too much for our nation to bear.
“If Buhari comes back in 2019 Nigeria may be saddled with the greatest conflict between Shiite and Sunni Muslims in world history.Millions would die.”
