Ahead of this year’s general elections, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday stormed Enugu State for his campaign rally. He also visited Anambra State.
But in Anambra state, the heartbeat of Igboland in southeast Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari did not wear his Igbo traditional attire on Thursday while campaigning.
It was not like this four years ago when Mr Buhari, then opposition candidate, stormed Igboland with a red attire to win the hearts of one of Nigeria’s most influential and vociferous tribes.
Between then and now, his security forces have crushed a powerful secessionist movement with guns and bloodshed in Igboland.
The vice presidential candidate of the country’s main opposition party, Peter Obi is from Anambra state.
Buhari, a northerner, and Igboland seem to have fallen out of love?
