2019: PDM strategises, extends caretaker committee’s tenure

The Peoples Democratic Movement (PDM) has extended by one year the tenure of its National Caretaker Committee (NCC) following the expiration of an earlier three months mandate given to it to work.

A communiqué issued at the end of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Saturday said that the decision to extend the committee’s tenure was reached to enable it conclude its assignment, part of which is to conduct the party’s national convention to elect substantive officers.

The communiqué signed by the caretaker committee Chairman Hon. Munir Waziri and his Secretary Ifeanyi Igwe, also said that the NEC directed a review of the party’s activities at all levels across the country.

“The meeting reviewed the activities of the party at all levels within the last three months and commended the efforts of the caretaker committee at securing and furnishing the new national secretariat of the party.

“The secretariat is situated at number 26 Massenya street, Wuse zone 6 Abuja.

“Getting a befitting secretariat is one of the tasks given to the committee following the dissolution of the national principal officers, about three months ago.

“Furthermore, considering the INEC’s release of the 2019 general election dates, the NEC believes the party is among those to reckon with and has decided to start early preparation for the 2019 election.

“In the light of this, a general review of the state of the party across the country has been made and it was discovered that there are some states where the PDM has no structure.

“The process of putting structures in them is currently ongoing,’’ the communiqué read.
