A political group in Akwa Ibom, and members of the All Progressive Congress APC, Tinubu Support Group TSG led by their Chairman Steering Committee, Hon. Ifiok Inyang, a former commissioner in Akwa Ibom, in a press briefing held in Uyo, the State Capital said the declaration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was a long-awaited call.
The press statement has it that the former governor of Lagos State was simply responding to calls by Nigerians across demographic, economic, and cultural groups to step into the office of the President to address the socio-economic needs, insecurity challenges, and underdevelopment of the country so as to turn the destiny of Nigeria to greatness.
“You can recall he risked his life when he joined forces with fellow compatriots in NADECO to chase the military from National political life and install democracy. We came here to thank our leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for heeding the vociferous calls of Nigerians across ethno- religious, demographic, economic divides and cultural strata to run for president in 2023”. Adding that the former governor was the best in all others seeking for the position.
The group thanked the citizens of Nigeria for the persistent calls and the APC National Leader for listening to those passionate, patriotic, and persistent calls to national duty to satisfy the yearnings of the Nigerian citizens.
The group also warned against the running down of great leaders who show interest in political offices.
Fielding questions from newsmen on demands of Nigerians for youthful president, the group leader referred to the unsurpassable record of Tinubu during his tenure as governor of Lagos state compared to other youthful governors, Senators or ministers of the time.

On agitation for power shift to a particular zone in the south, he described as undemocratic to pick a particular family or ethnic group to produce president, noting that politics is not traditional leadership that has to do with rotation of stool round the royal families. “No state has exclusive right to power over the other. Power resides in the people to choose anybody they want, irrespective of ethnic or religious background”, he added.

The group assured that the interest, yearnings and problems of Akwa Ibom would be allayed if Tinubu wins, given his antecedents in accommodating all ethnic nationalities in his cabinet during his reign as governor of Lagos state.

Speaking after the briefing, the APC political leader of Nsit Ubium, Obong Ime James Gamble, called on all to join hands in bringing Tinubu to the presidency, describing him as a political bridge builder with a vision and knowledge to know where he is going. He commended Tinubu’s ingenuity during his face-off with OBJ on federal allocation in piloting the state using internally generated revenues.
Present at the event were former Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan local government area, Bishop Ekpe James, Hon. Fabian Ekpeyong, APC stalwart, CEO of Apple’s Resort, Dr. Chris Enoch, Mrs. Charity Wilson, Hon. Emmanuel Asanga and Umoren Akpakpan, and many others
