Abia indigenes in the diaspora have endorsed Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu, the Action People’s Party (APP) candidate, for the 2023 governorship election in Abia State.
The Abia indigenes from the 17 local government areas of Abia State, resident in Benin Republic disclosed this in a statement released on Monday morning and signed by Hon. Chief Paul O. Uche, Chairman Abia State in Diaspora Cotonou, Benin Republic; The former Chairman, Umuahia Community Cotonou, Hon.Uwakwe E.; Chairman and Secretary General, Nkporo Community Cotonou, Mr. Aso Igwe and Mr. Patrick Ude.
They stated that the group took the position during the Abia indigenes in the diaspora meeting held on Sunday, December 4.
“After due considerations, we unanimously adopted Chief Mascot Uzor Kalu as the preferred governorship candidate for the poll,” said the statement. “The diaspora overwhelmingly request the entire Abia people to align with and support Mascot Uzor Kalu because the state is in serious need of good governance.
“We are convinced that Mascot Uzor Kalu has the integrity, pedigree, and visionary leadership acumen to drive the state to the next level of development in infrastructure, human capital, industrial, education, health, agriculture and other sectors,” the statement said.
