Political and human rights activist, #BringBackOurGirls co-founder, Aisha Yesufu @AishaYesufu has said that she is giving in and accepting the challenge to officially declare her support for the Labour Party presidential flag bearer, Mr Peter Obi @PeterObi
While replying to one of her followers who requested that she officially declare her support for Mr Peter Obi and Ahmad Datti Yusuf, Aisha Yesufu wrote: “So I need to do more! Challenge accepted!”
Aisha Yesfu has since been making tweets urging Nigerian Youths to shun the old politicians and support candidates who have the competence and sound mind to lead Nigeria out of the present bad situation.
She has also made several statements in approval of the #Obidient Movement but has never officially declared support for the Peter Obi and Datti Yusuf candidacy.
Aisha Yesufu has become a feminine voice and force to reckon with in Nigeria and beyond since after her involvement in the #BringBackOurGirls movement in 2014 and also her involvement in the 2017 #EndSARS movement.
She has become a voice for the voiceless and has challenged bad governance since 2014, a stance that has fetched her accolades of admirations as well as grumbles and disenchantment.
In June 2021 Aisha Yesufu vehemently refutted President Buhari’s 1967 threat on the Igbos following the activities of the IPOB members in the South East. In reaction to the President’s threat, Aisha made a video and wrote: “My name is Aisha Somtochukwu Yesufu #IAmIgbo. Any threat to Igbo people is a threat to me. An attack to Igbo people is an attack on me. I condemn the 1967 threats from President Buhari to the Igbo people. No Nigerian is more Nigerian than any Nigerian.”
