Chief Whip of the Nigerian Senate and former governor of Abia State, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has called on Nigerians to avoid prioritising the age of a person as a yardstick for measuring whether or not they can make a good leader.
Senator Orji Uzor Kalu took to his official Facebook page on Saturday afternoon to make the statements that what should be more important is who the people believe to give the right leadership.
He wrote: “I find it inappropriate when people judge people based on age . The truth is that wisdom and knowledge for leadership doesn’t come with age . In leadership, both young and old are eligible.”
Senator Uzor Kalu also wrote that the ability to lead well is not done by age but by the knowledge a person has to serve the people .
“Age doesn’t seem to impact a leader’s willingness to step up, issue directives, and provide rewards for performance.”
“For us Nigerians , What should be more important is who the people believe to give the right leadership,” he concluded.
Senator Uzor Kalu is one of the major contenders for the 2023 presidential election aspiring to clinch the ticket under the All Progresives Congress party.
