The 2023 Presidential Race has taken another dramatic turn in the All Progressives Congress party as the president of the African Development Bank AfDB, Akinwumi Adesina has reportedly joined the race, 9News Nigeria reports.
The former minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina obtained copies of his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms on Saturday, May 7th 2022 to vie for the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress Party.
9News Nigeria learnt that a coalition of 28 groups consisting of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups, raised the APC Party stipulated fee of N100 million in order to purchase the forms for the Dr Akinwumi.
According to a report, the coalition was led by Mohammed Saleh, the leader of One Nigeria Group who expressed the need for Dr Akiwumi Adesina to join the race at this time.
Recall that lately, implausible flocks of candidates have impromptu declared their interest to run in the 2023 presidential election under the All Progressives Congress party. Such candidates, to mention but a few include, Senator Godswill Akpabio, Pastor Tunde Bakari, former governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole and Governor Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa State.
