The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has flagged off national campaign, pledging to deliver at least 50 per cent votes for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 general election.
The Governor of Anambra State, Charles Soludo, and the national leader of APGA on Friday in Awka during the inauguration of APGA’s national campaign for the 2027 general elections said APGA has presidential candidate, therefore officially adopted Mr President as its preferred candidate.
“Today, we adopt the APC Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, as our candidate,” Soludo said.
The Governor said that Mr Tinubu had demonstrated love and concern for the Igbo people, particularly the people of Anambra.
He also recalled that Mr Tinubu had appointed several Anambra indigenes to strategic positions in Lagos State during his tenure as governor.
‘’APGA had adopted the presidential candidate of the ruling party in previous elections; therefore, the party’s decision to support Tinubu in 2027 general elections is a continuation of that political arrangement,” he said.
The governor insisted that Mr Tinubu was the only presidential candidate of the party in the 2027 general elections.
“We don’t have a presidential candidate, Tinubu is our candidate,” he said.
He further recalled that the state recorded about 5,000 votes for Mr Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
‘’Yet, the president has continued to address some of the challenges confronting the state and the South-East region.
“We gave him only about 5,000 votes, and yet he is doing wonderful works in the state,” he said.
Mr Soludo urged the people of the state to support Mr Tinubu in the 2027 election.
According to him, doing so would give the state and the South-East a stronger opportunity to engage with the federal government and negotiate for their development.
The governor declared his intention to deliver 50 per cent of the state’s votes to Mr Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, in the 2027 general elections.
“We need to vote for him in order to sit with the government at the centre and negotiate for the development of the South-East and Anambra.
