The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum paid a courtesy visit to the former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Professor Ali Isa Pantami, at his residence.
The visit, which occurred on on Thursday night adds to a series of recent engagements by notable political figures who have been calling on Professor Pantami, fueling speculations about his potential return to active politics.
Meanwhile, details of the meeting between Ambassador Damagum and Professor Pantami remain undisclosed.
Previous visitors include; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Professor Nentawe Yilwatda; Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and ex-Labour Party presidential candidate (2023), former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and former Vice President of Nigeria and 2023 PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Professor Pantami, who served under the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, has maintained a strong voice in national discourse, particularly on issues of digital transformation, governance and youth empowerment.
Political analysts suggest that the latest visit may not be unconnected to ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
