Member of the Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu will secure at least 65 percent of total votes cast in the 2027 general election.
He disclosed this during a Channels TV programme on Wednesday, 16 September, 2026.
Jibrin attributed Tinubu’s 2023 outcome to the peculiar political circumstances of that period, but expressed confidence that the President’s standing has since improved considerably.
“In 2023, President Tinubu got 38% of the votes because of the nature of what happened at that time, but take it to the bank, the president will have nothing less than 65% of the total votes cast in 2027,” Jibrin said.
The APC chieftain also spoke in defence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, urging critics within the party to exercise restraint in their public commentary about him.
“Wike is an asset to the APC. I don’t think Wike should be embarrassed at this moment with public statements,” he said.
Jibrin further disclosed that Wike’s political relevance extends beyond the APC, noting that members of opposition parties have taken note of the criticism directed at the minister.
“There are people who are in other parties, who are working with us in the NDC, in the ADC. Some of them called me yesterday, saying, ‘Look at what they are saying about Wike,'” he added.
