250 Schools In Akwa Ibom To Participate In Maltina School Games

Not less than 250 Public and Private Secondary Schools in Akwa Ibom State will participate in the 3rd edition of Maltina School Games.

This was disclosed by Pastor Emmanuel Ebong, Chairman of National Maltina School Games Committee and Director of School Sports, State Secondary Education Board (SSEB) in Akwa Ibom State.

Speaking on Monday, Emmanuel Ebong said the event will begin on Wednesday 9th-11th March, 2022 at the Godswill Akpabio International stadium.

Pastor Emmanuel Ebong, who is the 2nd Vice President, Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), noted that events scheduled for Boys and Girls are: 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, Long Jump and High Jump.

He said that the events (Junior and Senior) will be Under 15 and Under 17, while Javelin (Boys and Girls) will be for only senior category. Pastor Ebong further stated that the event is organized by Nigeria School Sport Federation (NSSF), adding that winners of 1st position will proceed to Abuja for National finals against other five States namely: Kano, Plateau, Kaduna, Abuja and Lagos which will start on the 29th March to 1st April, 2022.

According to him, “Winners in Abuja will given scholarship and quality automatically for International School Sports Competition in China in November later this year” he concluded.

Meanwhile, each school is to register two students per event at the preliminaries.
This competition is in its 3rd edition sponsored by Maltina Brand.
