No fewer than 32 state governors and over 8,400 delegates have arrived Abuja for the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention, one of the party’s biggest political gatherings ahead of the 2027 elections.
The high-profile event, holding at Eagle Square, is expected to bring together President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, party leaders, ministers, stakeholders from across the country.
According to reports, about 8,453 delegates from all 36 States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) are expected in the convention, where new party leaders are expected to be elected and key discussions taken.
The convention is also seen as a strategic platform to consolidate party unity and shape political direction ahead of the next election cycle, with growing indications of early alignments within the ruling party.
Security has been heightened across Abuja, with major roads restricted and logistics put in place to accommodate the influx of political actors and supporters.
The gathering underscores the APC’s continued mobilisation efforts as political activities begin to intensify nationwide.
