The Management of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been notified of a purported audio recording of selective conversations amongst the Governor, Deputy Governor and some Senior Officials.

  • Group Urges EFCC to Investigate Six Years of Unpaid SIWES Stipend

The Progressive Students Movement (PSM), a pan-Africa socialist movement, has urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate alleged six years of unpaid Students Industrial Work Scheme (SIWES) stipends.

The President of PSM in Nigeria, Mr Bestman Okereafor, made the call in a statement made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu yesterday.

  • Corruption allegation: PDP, APC in war of words over Bulkachuwa

The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday called on President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to clear the air on alleged corruption against the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa.

This is coming after a judicial advocacy group, Access to Justice, had asked Bulkachuwa to step down as a member of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal on the grounds that she is married to a senator-elect of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

  • IGP Adamu backs SARS, says unit most successful in police

The Acting Inspector General (IG) of Police, Mohammed Adamu, said in Benin City on Monday that the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) has contributed up to 80 per cent of the successes recorded by the Nigeria Police Force.

Adamu made the remark at the commencement of a three-day Human Rights Training Programme for officers of SARS in Edo.

  • FG directs prisons, fire services to employ 9,675 Nigerians

The Federal Government has directed the Nigeria Prisons Service and the Federal Fire Service to employ 9, 675 Nigerians.

While the prisons will employ 7, 475, the fire service will recruit 2, 200 new workers.

The two agencies were directed to carry out the employment by the Civil Defence, Fire, Immigration and Prisons Services Board.
