Militants under the aegis of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) have blown up the Forcados’ export pipeline owned by Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
NDA’s spokesperson, Mudoch Agbinibo, in his twitter handle on Wednesday, said that its Elite Strike Team 6 blew up the pipeline, adding their action was to stress that they do not appreciate the repair of the trunkline.
The twitter post reads: “Today at 10:45pm, our Elite Strike Team (Strike Team 6) has blown up the Forcados export pipeline. This action is to further stress that we don’t appreciate the repairs of blown pipelines. The details to be on our website later.”
When contacted, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Campaign Centre, Operation Delta Safe, Lt.-Col. Olaolu Marcellinus Daudu, declined comment.
SPDC resumed crude exports from the Forcados’ Terminal in the restive Niger Delta following repairs after a militant attack.
Forcados exports between 250,000 and 300,000 barrels per day prior to the strike claimed by a militant group.
But the “Operation Delta Safe” said that Bakassi Strike Force (BSF) militants led by one Mr. Benjamin Ene, have expressed unreserved willingness to lay down their arms and have contacted the Department of State Service (DSS) in Cross River State through the state government’s appointed rapporteur on amnesty to signify their readiness to hold talks on amnesty with the relevant authorities.
