The above statement was the response of Anambra State PDP Chairman Hon Sir Ndubisi Nwobu (Obuka Awka) while answering questions from journalists over the recent extension of the Inspector General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu’s exhausted tenure by 3 months after the official constitutional requirement.
The state chairman of the leading opposition party PDP has condemned the unconstitutional decision of President Buhari to still retain the services of the Police IG arguing that he has served out the statutory 35 years as was provided by the law, therefore has no business staying back thereafter.
Obuka addressed a couple of issues in response to questions from the journalists, but most important was the turn out for the funeral ceremony which he expressed satisfaction for the outpouring of love, support and mass mobilization in respect of High Chief Obiora Okonkwo’s (Dikeora Idemili) late mother.
It was a convergence of people from different works of life today in Ogidi Idemili North local government area of Anambra State as Dikeora bade farewell to his beloved mother Ezinne Roseline Okonkwo.
The occasion witnessed the presence The state executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, key stakeholders, gubernatorial aspirants, members of the national and state house of assembly, including former candidates and public officers of the party.
The delegation led by Hon Sir Ndubisi Nwobu were members of the state executive council while other prominent personalities across party lines equally graced the occasion in droves. A development that compelled the master of ceremony to proclaim the occasion “THE MOTHER OF BURIALS”.
The PDP gubernatorial aspirants sighted as at the time of compiling this report were Hon Chris Emeka Azubogu, Dr Ifedi Okwenna, Mr Valentine Ozigbo and Barr Winston Udeh. The Member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency Hon Obinna Chidoka was actively on ground, even as other key stakeholders might have visited earlier or after the period under review, because that’s the spirit of PDP.
The party boss encouraged members of the Okonkwo family and their guests to pray for peaceful repose of Late Ezinne Roseline Okonkwo whom he described as a character that was worthy of emulation considering her admirable ideals which characterized her lifetime on the status of self fulfillment and enviable humanitarian legacy.
