Community election has continued to be a clog in the wheel of progress and prosperity of any society. This has therefore called for a thourough check and screening of delegates whose vote casted at the election would count.

It is also of good benefit to the people to advocate for those candidates or contestants who have no skeleton in their cupboards. The right candidates should be voted for to move the community forward.

Information revealed to 9News Nigeria was that the Umuoma People’s Assembly will hold its president general election by Saturday this week at Umuoma town hall where these delegates are expected to turn out to cast their votes to the choice candidate.

Umuoma Nekede has five towns participating in this election and with the present strategy by the electoral college, 150 delegates will cast their votes.

The position of the President General is a sensitive post to be elected carefully because it has a negative wing to ruin down the community when voted wrongly and also a positive wing to improve the community when the right choice is voted to power.

In this Saturday contest there are two serious contenders in the race, namely Hon.Okechukwu Opara from Okwu village and Sir Onyekpandu Nwaneri from Umudoche village.Others are yet to turn out to secure the election form.

Recall that the former chairman election caretaker committee, Professor Mezieobi was replaced by the Nekede Federated Union and was replaced by two neutral chairmen from Umudibia and Umualum respectively.

Our source hinted that there was a looming foul play envisaged by the community that led to the removal of the former committee.

As at the time of this report, Okechukwu Opara is toping the lead by the popularity vote while Onyekpandu Nwaneri may likely cling the electoral vote by the heat on ground.

Our media crew contacted both contestants to know their views but both of them was not dispossed to talk to the press.

In such an election, majority of the youths are used to cause harm and forment troubles during the election but the Police division which is domiciled in the area could play a very important role to avert trouble.

It is worthy of note that the traditional ruler of the community has ask the contestants to obey the rules of the election and has shown readiness to embrace the new incoming PG no matter which community he will emerge from.

There is every clear tendency that the Campaign is on as the screening is slated for Wednesday this week.
