The GENERAL MANAGER of Environmental and Transformation Commission ENTRACO Honourable Sir Mcdonald Kelechi Ebere has assured the people of Imo state the readiness of his agency to Improve on their services all over the state.

This statement was made few hours ago on a radio program with DarlingFm Owerri.

Hon. McDonald while addressing the issues raised by Imo people that Imo ENTRACO is dormant, he exposed the heat areas of ENTRACO work coverage and warned offenders of these laws to stop forthwith or face the wrath of the state mobile court.

The grey areas he mentioned were; Taking charge of pollution, sewage control and oil spillage.

He however stated that the edict of law of may 2020 added extra areas of jurisdiction of work to include, Fumigation, paste control, eradication of street trading, demolition of illegal structures and shanties.

Meanwhile, in conjunction with the state ministry of health, transport and OCDA, his agency had also approved to take charge of beautification of green verge areas, Sanitation and waste management.

ENTRACO also is backed up the law to stop indiscriminate blockade of gutters and water ways with slabs and refuse. He added that ENTRACO is in charge of regulation of construction miscreants and issuance of abatement notice to offenders.

McDonald had earlier stated that ENTRACO is improving and orientation is high through the radio and television stations to educate the people on the need to live a health life in healthy environment like Imo but regretted the manace caused by traders, hotel management, commercial drivers and landlords.

He futher alleged that hoteliers and eateries abuse such laws while channeling their waste to gutter ways and rivers.

‘Also trucks and tippers are henceforth warned to cover their goods properly to avoid spillage on the roads which could still lead to destruction of a-follow-up vehicles and most times cause accident.

“Meat vendors who indulge in conveyance of meat and other food items openly will henceforth be arrested and take them to mobile court likewise offenders of both ENTRACO, ISWAMA and ROAD TRAFFIC LAWS”

Fast food and mama-put givers are also affected. He had earlier warned such food vendors to maintain high level of hygiene to live a health live and serve a healthy food to the public.

The GM alerted owners of shanties and shops along IMSU roundabout, IMSU road towards Orji road to remove their goods and relocate within 24hours of this report or face sanction and possible demolition.

While Imo state government through His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma, has set up a technical committee to move to work to inform hotel management, eateries, traders and other agencies of the Government resolve to return the beauty of the state through proper sanitation and waste management, McDonald warned them to take serious the questioneers’ circulating in the state for easy assessment and maximum implementation of sanity in Imo state.

The newly constituted committee comprises of TEAM A – TEAM E made up of Government functionaries, ENTRACO, TOURISM, HEALTH WORKERS, SAs and SSAs.

ENTRACO is by this notice recruiting Workers along Owerri/ Aba road office calling on interested individuals to apply.
