The Force Headquarters in Abuja has dismissed 14 police officers for criminal conduct, spokesman, Don Awunah, said yesterday.
Awuna said at a Press conference that the personnel “erred and compromised in discharging their duties and betraying the official oath of office.”
According to him, their offences include aiding and abetting of cattle rustling, robbery and kidnapping in the northeast.
The officers were arrested, subjected to internal disciplinary measures and punished according to the gravity of their offences, he said.

The dismissed officers who committed the alleged crime in the North-East are ASP Yuguda Abbah, Sgt Habila Sarki, Diphen Nimmyel, Sgt Yasan Danda, Sgt Abbas Mailalle, Sgt Bwanason Tanko, Sgt Donan James, CPL Idris Salisu, CPL Zakari Kofi. Others are Ambalihu Yahaya, Ugenlo Sylvester, Musa Umar and Omaloe Edicha.
The interrogation and confessions of the Ex-Policemen also led to the arrest of principal suspects and recovery of many arms and ammunition, Awuna said.
He said on August 16, 2016 four policemen serving with the Kogi State command were arrested for compromising and conspiring with one Zakari Ya’u Isiaka, a notorious armed robber, kidnapper and murderer, who had been on the wanted list of the police in the state.
The suspect confessed to having been actively involved in many armed robberies, kidnappings and murder cases within Kogi and other North-Central states. Five assorted rifles and different calibers of ammunition were recovered from the suspect and other members of his gang.
The dismissed policemen were interrogated and found to have conspired and compromised their call to duty.
Exhibits recovered include 17 AK-47 rifles one local pistol, 363 rounds of ammunition.
