Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has called on the Imo state government to sit up and rescue Owerri from winning an award as the most-dirtiest state capital in Nigeria.
Anyanwu expressed bitterness through a release signed by Ikenna Onuoha, Special Adviser (Media) to Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu that every part of Owerri, the state capital is littered with heaps of refuse without government showing concern.
According to him, from Orji, Works-Layout, Aladinma, MCC road, Amakohia, Akwakuma, Egbeada, World Bank, Wetheral, Tetlow and Douglas roads amongst others, the story remains the same.
He said that such negligence is capable of creating diseases that may likely throw the state into another dangerous pandemic in addition to the existing covid-19 virus.
He regretted how Owerri that won awards in the past as the most-cleanest state capital in Nigeria has suddenly become the shadow of itself.
Senator Anyanwu further charged the ruling APC government to brace up and tackle the menace immediately, advising her not to hesitate to relieve anyone found wanting of their duties to ensure the cleanliness and healthiness of the citizens.
