By Princely Onyenwe,Imo –
The Association of Retired Permanent Secretaries in the State recently lamented the non-payment of their pensions and gratuities for a long period of time by the State Goverment even as they hold end of the year party.
This was made known in an address delivered by the state chairman of the association Chief Dr.R.C.O.Ezeogu during the get together.
He hinted that from January 1,2012 to December 31, 2019 that the State Goverment is owing the association over #2.5 billion without any hope of receiving a dime despite the series of letters written to the State Goverment in that regard.
However the group has alleged that “The have written considerable number of letters to His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Imo State, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodinma without any acknowledgement.
Though, we are well aware that these letters were received. We are in sympathy that these outstanding arrears of gratuities and pensions happened during the period of Rochas Okorocha administration” he said.
Dr Ezeogu maintained that since Government is a continuous process that the Association is expecting the present administration to come to their rescue if not for anything but for the fact that they have given in their best in serving the State.
In futherance, he noted that the inability of the state goverment to reply to the letters sent to it,is an indication that the Governor is not willing to pay them.
Chief Ezeogu regretted that he don’t know why their salaries has always been an issue when the Judiciary Officers have been paid.
“We, therefore call on APC as a party and the speaker,Imo State House of Assembly to consider it absolutely necessary to request His Excellency, the Executive Governor of the State to swiftly pay our entitlements. It is long over due.”he stated.
The highlights of the event, which is now an annual event, was the AWARD of HONOUR that was bestowed on COMRADE FABIAN IFEANYICHUKWU Agba, the Patron of the Association as a “Super Comrade” based on his valuable and outstanding contributions that draw the attention of the concerned public to the plights of the Association.
