The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has announced the postponement of the planned resumption of toll collection on the Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge in Lagos State, 9news Nigeria learned.

The LCC Managing Director, Yomi Omomuwasan made the development known in a statement on Friday.

He submitted that the need to continue to engage stakeholders in the matter is responsible for the company’s decision to postpone the resumption of tolling.

Omomuwasan added that the postponement would allow more customers to register for the electronic toll devices.

9news Nigeria reports the toll collection was planned to resume on April 17 after it had been suspended in the wake of the shutdown of operations caused by the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The toll plaza was reopened on April 1, 2022, but stakeholders vehemently rejected the plan by the organization to commence tolling.

“As a responsible organization, we must take full cognizance of everyone within the axis. Therefore, we want to continue with the ongoing engagements with our stakeholders,” the LCC MD said.

“The preparatory operations to resume tolling on the Bridge have been smooth so far, and we are grateful to all the key stakeholders for their cooperation.

“The planned commencement of toll collection has now been postponed, allowing more of our customers to register for the electronic toll devices to enable seamless passages at the toll plaza,”
