A four-storey building under construction had collapsed in Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital
The collapsed building is located in Uyo city centre, in Iman Street off a trunk ‘A’ road known as Aka Road.
The building collapsed on Saturday at about 5pm.
According to eyewitnesses, an unspecified number of people are trapped inside.
A press statement from Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Information says the State Government has deployed critical rescue services and security agencies involving the Police, DSS, Fire Service to be on ground with technical support from Julius Berger and Amitek to search for those who may still be trapped within
Secretary to State Government, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwem, Commissioner for Special Duties, Dr. Bassey Okon and other Government officials are at the scene.
Four persons so far rescued were taken to the hospital and the search of others is still on .
