Chief Ibe Okwara Osonwa, HOR Member-Elect Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency has advocated for fairness, equity and justice.
In a message made available to 9News Nigeria on Monday, Chief Osonwa said Democracy enables a fair and representative system of government where each citizen has a voice and can participate in decision-making.
He further said democracy is about empowering individuals and promoting equality. It allows for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and fosters an environment where diverse opinions and perspectives can be heard and respected.
According to him, “on this special day, let us renew our commitment to upholding the principles of democracy in our communities and beyond. Through our collective efforts, we can continue to build a brighter future grounded in fairness, justice, and opportunity for all.”
The message reads,
“Happy Democracy Day! Today we celebrate the importance of democracy as a foundational pillar of our society. Democracy enables a fair and representative system of government where each citizen has a voice and can participate in decision-making.”
“As we reflect on the meaning of this day, we should also acknowledge the challenges that come with democracy. While it is a powerful force for good, it is not perfect and requires constant effort and vigilance to protect against threats of corruption, inequality, and injustice.”
