ONITSHA—The Anambra State House of Assembly has summoned  Special Adviser to Governor Willie Obiano on Political Affairs, Mr Chinedu Obidigwe, for allegedly usurping the functions of Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Apart from that, Obidigwe was in a motion moved by the member representing Anambra East constituency, Obinna Emenaka, accused of imposing a native doctor as a traditional ruler of Nando as well as imposing a president-general when there was still a substantive one.

He is to appear before the lawmakers,  Tuesday, to answer the allegations levelled against him. Emenaka, a ranking member and Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, said the House was particularly disturbed by the alleged abuse of siren and long convoy the aide used to harass and intimidate the people of Anambra.

He said Obidigwe was being summoned to explain his functions as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters so that they would know where his job started and where it ended. Also speaking on the motion for urgent public importance, a member representing Onitsha North 1 constituency, Mr Chugbo Enwezor, supported the motion on the ground that the governor’s aide was flagrantly abusing the position given to him.

The motion was put to vote by the Speaker of the House, Mrs Rita Maduagwu and was unanimously adopted.
