The Imo state 2023 Governorship Election is done and dusted. The Election was keenly contested by seventeen political parties. But only four among the political parties featured serious candidates.
The incumbent Governor contested under the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Samuel Anyanwu contested under the People’s Democratic Party PDP, Athan Achonu contested under the Labour Party LP, Rtd General Lincoln Ogunewe contested under the Action Alliance AA political party.
Record has it that turnout of voters at various polling booths visited by 9News Nigeria correspondents across the three states of Kogi, Imo and Bayelsa states was low but in Imo the leading All Progressives Congress APC won with high margin.
APC won by 540,308 votes, PDP came in second position with 71,503 votes, the Labour Party candidate came third with 64,081 votes while APGA trailed in 4th position with 6,392 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) returning officer, Professor Abayomi Fashina has declared the incumbent governor and APC candidate, Hope Uzodinma as the winner of the Imo governorship election.
The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hope Uzodinma won the election in all 27 local government areas of the state as announced at the collation centre in Owerri the state capital.
Kogi and Bayelsa states resident electoral commissioners RECs are yet to pronounce the winners of the 2023 Guber Elections in their respective states at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria.
Imo Election was keenly contested and congratulations to His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma for his emergence to consolidate his good works.
The call for CHARTER OF EQUITY as embedded into IMHA law is expected to be followed accordingly and by so doing Imo state will progress politically as gathered.
