The Majority Leader IMHA Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi has emerged again as the back-to-back Chairman on Lands and Chairman on Owerri capital development authority OCDA as declared before the house by Mr Speaker, Rt Honourable Chike Olemgbe.
This is the comprehensive list of standing committee members of Imo State House of Assembly IMHA as declared at the sitting of honourable members Thursday.
Majority Leader of the 10th House IMHA -Rt Hon. Kanayo Onyemaechi (Egbe) made the list as the Chairman committee on, LAND’S/OCDA amongst others.
The constitution of IMHA standing committee is an important way of promoting good legislation and proper check on government ministries and parastatal as directed by His Excellency Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Recall that at the floor of the House, the majority Leader IMHA Rt Hon Kanayo Onyemaechi presented a bill for the Domestication of the harmonized Teachers’ Retirement Age.
The bill provided an upward review of the retirement age of Imo Teachers from 60yrs – 65yrs and from 35yrs – 40yrs of pensionable service.
Making its importance known to the House, the bill was given accelerated reading and speedy passage by the House and further sent to the Governor for assent among other bills passed.
The House adjourned to November 30, 2023 for next sitting while Honourable Kanayo Onyemaechi’s bill on teacher’s retirement scaled through pending its enactment as an a law.
This development became cheering and cherished by Imo teachers who gathered at various school premises at the time of this report by 9News Nigeria, rejoicing at the News of this latest development.
On this therefore, Imo teachers across the state, however, thanked the majority Leader IMHA Kanayo Onyemaechi for bringing their matter to the House and having teachers in mind while praying for more better welfare packages from Governor Uzodinma’s administration.
Kanayo Onyemaechi was returned to chair both standing committees of Lands and OCDA because of his track records so far exhibited in the 9th and 10th Assembly respectively.
