Plateau State Governor Barrister Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has promised more support for the Armed Forces to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities of protecting life and property.
Mutfwang stated this during the Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service marking the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day held at ECWA Unity Church, Rayfield, Jos on Sunday.
He said: “This is a service in remembrance of our fallen heroes and indeed, we want to thank God for those great men and women who devoted themselves to the service of the Nation and in line of duty, lost their lives while others were maimed or became incapacitated.
He described the Armed Forces as a crucial institution for the survival of Nigeria stressing that adequate attention to issues that will improve and boost the morale of the personnel to deliver on their mandate was part of his administration’s agenda.
“Some died in the course of battle, some died as a result of injuries sustained in the course of protecting the Nation, and they left their loved ones behind.
“Unfortunately, as a Nation, we have not done well in looking after those who have served the Nation, we will do better in looking after those who have served the Nation.
Meanwhile, the governor described the Supreme Court Judgement that validated his election as a victory not only for him but for Plateau citizens, adding that he dedicated the victory to God.
He described the Interdenominational Thanksgivings Service as a divine arrangement, being the the first service he had attended after the Supreme Court validated his election as governor. In his sermon the Director of ECWA EMS Rev. Elisha McPhilips, expressed confidence in the Nigerian Army to end the ongoing terrorism, armed banditry, kidnapping, and other criminal activities in the Country.
Former COCiN President, Rev. Pandam Yamsat offered special prayers for the Nigerian legions and the Armed Forces and prayed for more wisdom to carry on with the herculean of safeguarding Plateau and the country as a whole.
