“But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

– Matthew 24:13

By Obinna SMOG Ejianya (9News Nigeria)

In this message, we will discuss the importance of perseverance and trusting in God’s strength, the significance of enduring to the end, and not giving up in the face of challenges. The saying “Winners Never Quit & Quitters Never Win” by Vince Lombardi aligns with the biblical verse Matthew 24:13, which emphasizes the importance of perseverance. We will explore the idea that while the human brain has a natural tendency to quit when things get tough, cultivating a winner’s mindset and relying on God’s strength can empower us to overcome obstacles.

  1. Overcoming the Brain’s Quitting Tendency

The human brain is wired to seek comfort and avoid discomfort or difficulty. When faced with challenges, it is easy to succumb to the temptation to quit. However, true winners understand that giving up is not an option. By training the mind to resist the brain’s quitting tendency, individuals can develop resilience and perseverance.

  1. Drawing Strength from God

Philippians 4:13 reminds us that we can accomplish all things through Christ, who strengthens us. Although our personal strengths may be limited compared to the challenges we face, relying on God’s strength allows us to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (KJV)

Isaiah 40:28-31 further reinforces this idea by emphasizing that God grants strength to the weary and empowers the weak. Those who place their hope in the Lord will experience renewed strength and endurance.

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.”
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: 31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:29-31(KJV)
  1. Trusting in God’s Plan

Even when circumstances appear bleak, it is crucial to continue pushing forward while trusting in God’s plan. Romans 8:28 assures believers that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose. Psalm 30:5b also offers comfort, reminding us that although we may experience temporary hardships, joy will come in the morning.

Psalm 30: 5b “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (KJV)

God promises that our expectations will not be disappointed (Proverbs 23:18, Proverbs 10:24) and that He has plans to give us a hopeful future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Psalm 29:11: – “The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.”

  1. Waiting on the Lord

Lamentations 3:25 and Isaiah 64:4 emphasize the importance of waiting on the Lord and seeking Him. God acts on behalf of those who patiently wait for Him, demonstrating His goodness and faithfulness. By maintaining faith and trust in God’s timing, we can find strength and perseverance in challenging situations.

Lamentations 3:25 – “The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him.”

So there is hope and a good future for those who can continue pushing on because, in the end, there will be joy. God has promised us that our expectations shall never be cut off. Proverbs 23:18, Proverbs 10:24.

In conclusion, enduring to the end and not giving up is vital for achieving success and fulfilling God’s purpose in our lives. By recognizing the brain’s quitting tendency, drawing strength from God, trusting in His plan, and patiently waiting on Him, we can overcome obstacles and experience the joy and fulfillment that lie ahead. Remember, winners never quit, and with God’s strength, we can persevere and emerge victorious.

Isaiah 64:4 – “From of old no one has heard or perceived by the ear, no eye has seen a God besides You, Who acts for those who wait for Him.”
