Ahmed Musa Explains Why He Snubbed Gov Yusuf’s Handshake (Photo)

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has spoken out amid a social media frenzy over a video clip capturing his greeting etiquette, insisting his actions were rooted in cultural respect while urging a shift in focus towards pressing national issues.

Addressing the controversy surrounding the viral video, Musa clarified that his gestures were intended as demonstrations of utmost respect within Northern culture.

“In our Northern culture, kneeling, shaking hands, etc., signify the highest form of respect. This was my intention when I greeted the deputy governor,” Musa explained.

However, Musa opted to bow rather than shake hands with Governor Abba Yusuf, honoring him in a manner deeply ingrained in tradition.

Expressing disappointment at the undue attention garnered by the incident, Musa lamented the diversion of focus from critical national concerns.

“It’s unfortunate that amidst all the pressing issues our nation faces, this seemingly insignificant moment has garnered so much attention,” he remarked.

Musa also voiced dismay at comments questioning his respectfulness, urging Nigerians to redirect their energy towards addressing societal challenges and fostering unity.

“Let’s focus on uplifting one another, fostering unity, and working towards a better future for all,” Musa urged, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts in tackling Nigeria’s issues.
