The National Electric Grid has experienced another system collapse, leaving to a nationwide blackout.

Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) confirmed the system collapse in separate statements on Saturday.

In a statement on Saturday, Friday Adakole Elijah, Head of Corporate Affairs, Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), said:

“The current outage being experienced within its franchise states is due to a loss of power supply from the national grid”.

The statement reads that:

“The loss of power supply from the national grid occurred this afternoon at about 15:09 hours of today, Saturday 6th July 2024, hence the loss of power supply on all our 33KV Feeders.

The statement further reads “We hope to restore normal supply to our esteemed customers as soon as the grid supply is restored to normalcy.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding as we strive to serve you better”.
