Afia in Chito,Ukum local government area of Benue State yesterday, Wednesday came under a serious attack by unknown gunmen shooting and killing Eight People.
Afia is just a “stone throw” from Zaki-Biam bordering Sankera the headquarters of Ukum local government are of Benue State.
Known for it numerous agricultural activities such as yams, Groundnut, Guinea corn.
9News Nigeria recalls that, series of attacks recently has been going on in the Sankera axis that houses Afia, Zaki-Biam, Katsina-Ala and logo local government areas of Benue State unabated by unknown gunmen.
Recently in the area, Thirteen (13) persons were killed in Ayati, Borikyo,a situation that sparks a lot of reaction leading to the burning down of some government property and residential homes, popular amongst which was a house belonging to Rt.Hon.Paul Biam, Chief of staff to Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia of Benue State.
It was gathered that,those killed were local farmers and traders who were just at the market square to buy and sale sadly the attackers came in their numbers and shot at them.
Reacting to the sad incident,a resident of “Afia”,who pleaded anonymity says,the attackers were many and all armed with sophisticated weapons, before we could say “Jack” bullets were flying all over.We took to our heels and on returning after the shooting,we met the lifeless bodies of our dear brothers.I plead with the government of Benue State to do something before we all die,he stated.
