🟢DIKEOHA Okechukwu Opara and his workerholic executives are poised to salvage Umuoma to the envy of neighbouring communities.
The hospitable People of Umuoma Nekede Autonomous Community in Owerri West LGA Imo State, penultimate saturday held their central administrative wing election that produced the President General PG Chief DIKEOHA Okechukwu Opara and his Honourable Executives.
Our correspondent reports that the Umuoma People’s Assembly (UPA); election was held in Oha hall situate at Nkwonunuyo Market arena in Umuoma Autonomous Community.
Speaking with the press at the end of the election, the electoral committee Chairman, Elder Goddy Obiyor told 9News Nigeria of his committee’s relentless effort invested to record a successful election.
Recall that the former PG Uchenna Nwaneri was relived of his position after several reports came against his representation as former Umuoma PG.
Chief Okechukwu Opara DIKEOHA has since assumed the PG’s office to avoid creating lacuna in the administration of Umuoma Autonomous Community since the former PG was stepped down by the generality of Ndi Umuoma Nekede.
It may interest us to note that the former PG was an outcome of appointment that lingered for a period of time until Ndi Umuoma called for a proper election to usher into power officially elected Excos.
Newsmen reports that the electoral committee showcased their serious burning desire and readiness to also conduct elections in the five recognized villages in the community as at when do.
Elder Goddy Obiyor further told 9News that the election of Umuoma People’s Assembly UPA was long overdue since the Uchenna Nwaneri’s leadership was running on interim appointment.
However, Chief Okechukwu Opara-Dike OHA emerged as the elected President General of Umuoma Autonomous community having scored fifty (50) votes out of the overall fifty one (51) casted votes at the election.
Newsmen reports that the election was keenly contested by aspirants for the following positions, President General PG, Vice President General, Secretary, Treasurer, Financial Secretary and the Public relation Manager of the Community.
Okechukwu Opara Contested against comrade Levi Azuike on the position of PG, Sir James Okechukwu Njoku and Chinedu Mezieobi doged it out on the position of Vice President VPG. Obinna Onyeukwu, Iyke Nwosu, Princely Onyenwe, Okechukwu Amadi, Kelechi Onyeukwu and Emeka Eke also faced the super election contest respectively.
Meanwhile, the newly emerged elected officers of Umuoma people’s Assembly UPA on their honourable positions are, Chief Okechukwu Opara -PG, Chinedu Mezieobi -Vice PG, Emeka Eke Secretary, Princely Onyenwe -PRO, Okechukwu Amadi -Financial Secretary and Kelechi Opara as UPA Treasurer.
The five towns of Umuoma Autonomous community, comprising of Umuezerokam, Okwu, Umuikea, Umuogba, De-na-Agwu were fully represented on the gazetted number of delegates that participated in the just concluded election.
The electoral committee gave their best efforts in making sure that the leadership of UPA Umuoma Nekede was restored through the process of election and not by former backyard appointment and selection of preferred officers targetted at running down the community Treasury.
9News reports that the process of the UPA year 2024 election was well conducted and the emergence of officers of UPA was transparent and orderly.
HRH Eze Morrison Eke PhD also reiterated his readiness to accept any official of UPA alongside other town Chairmen, women and Youth Leaders who will emerge through the due process of election. He added that traditional palace does not have any room to welcoming bad people or contain the criminal minded in the community. He added that Umuoma implies good people.
Eze Omadike charged the UPA officers ably led by the President General Okechukwu Opara to represent the good image of Umuoma Nekede in their services as elected officers of Umuoma UPA.
Omadike also told his subjects that the just concluded UPA election was the freest and fairest Election ever conducted in Umuoma Nekede, Owerri West.
He therefore thanked the Goddy Obiyor led electoral committee that comprised of capable hands like Barr Sunnie Azuike and Chief Innocent Nnodi. Eze Omadike also dissolved the committee at the inauguration event of Elected UPA Executives at his palace and charged the UPA to take over the administration of the community.
Further Investigation reveals that the palace did not influence the election or anybody as being rumoured but be rest assured that in every election there will be a winner and a loser as 9News reports.
Ndi Umuoma are therefore using this medium as a community to congratulate the winners of UPA election and in the same vein encourage those that lost out to hold unto high hopes for better days and some other leadership opportunities in the near future.
On Assignments: HRH Omadike charged the UPA to as a matter of importance call for the amendment cum review of the Umuoma constitution to capture the latest needs and challenges of the people and the community at large, including insuring of functional vigilante service, tenure elongation and to incorporate all branches of Umuoma both locally and in diaspora to register with Umuoma People’s Assembly to enable them have access to community benefits and administrative dividends.
The Monarch also charged the UPA to assist the traditional wing in conducting a well deserved upcoming Odu New Yam Festival and other administrative Functions going on in the community, UPA is expected to show quality representation and efficient service delivery.
Chief Okechukwu Opara while thanking the electoral college and welcoming his UPA Executives, promised to work jointly with all the leaderships in his constituency to execute the required projects to improve Umuoma and promote Nekede at large.
9News Nigeria reveals that at the date of filling this report, the Umuoma People’s Assembly Executives have swung into serious action to mobilize themselves for immediate official work while series of meetings, Familiarization visitations and consultations have continued to heat the ground running, all in making frantic efforts and quality plans to salvage Umuoma Nekede as a formidable entity.
Okechukwu Opara’s leadership has also written to all hotel operators, sand dredgers in the area to apply caution while working assiduously to curb crime, improve on community sanitation and stop illegal collection of money (development levy) from developers in Umuoma Nekede.
