ENTRACO, Soldiers Clash With Cargo Trailer Drivers In Owerri, As Union Demands For Stoppage Of Humiliation By Government, Unconditional Release Of Trailers

Imo state Nigeria is faced with road blockage by Cargo Trailer Union since Tuesday evening till press time as gathered by 9News Nigeria correspondent in owerri, the state capital.

The cause of the incident was an expression of a continuous attack and humiliation faced by truck drivers in the state. Such humiliations have been reported to appropriate quarters but regrettedly ENTRACO has turned it down.

Speaking with 9News at the scene of incident along owerri PortHarcourt road this afternoon, the spokesman of the group said the union has been facing alot of problems from Imo ENTRACO and since then the administration of Governor Hope Uzodinma took over , the trouble doubled.

PRO of the Active Containers Drivers Cargo Union hinted that ENTRACO has been disturbing and extorting trailer drivers in Imo state with humongous amount of money and enforcement of unbearable orders unlike other states in Nigeria.

On Tuesday, same ENTRACO carried two trailers to their office and requested the payment of five hundred thousand for it’s release. This huge request triggered the protest and road blockage by its union.

The request made by ENTRACO Imo state has on Tuesday afternoon triggered the Cargo drivers union to mobilize for protest targetted at information the shared Prosperity administration what they have been facing in the hands of ENTRACO, to express their actions as 9News reports.

The union lamented seven truck tires that were busted by some military personnel in the state. The officers were probably coming back from public function and saw the truck blocked the road. Without asking any question , they blew some tires and windscreen.

Meanwhile, Active Container Drivers CARGO Union has alerted the state government and the police command on this ugly development which led to their visit to the scene along Owerri PortHarcourt road this afternoon to confirm certain evidences.

Our correspondent reports that Owerri/PortHarcourt road was completely blocked by hundreds of Cargo Trailers since last night till press time.

On waiting for proper negotiations with, ENTRACO, Imo state government and the police command, Active Container Drivers Cargo Union resorted to merriments with several cartons of beer brands while roasting of life goats was ongoing to calm their nerves at the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria.

The spokesperson of the union had earlier thanked the government of Imo State under Governor Hope Uzodinma for his good policy plan on trailer/truck/ container/ cargo drivers in Imo state but regretted the extortion and bullying of these groups of business gurus at all times on their arrival into the state by ENTRACO.

At the time of this report by 9News Nigeria, deep discussions and talks to resolve this lingering crisis are going on between the Active Container Drivers Cargo Union and the agencies involved.

The union however requested for immediate unconditional release of their trailer Cargo spotted seized by ENTRACO, and to pay the Union the accrued damages and inconveniences done to them.

The union hinted that , the road will be cleared immediately terms are well reached between Imo ENTRACO and state government to continue their normal business. “Imo ENTRACO has been a torment on the flesh of our union and we want to show them this sign to block Imo roads and request for our due Rights.
