Breaking: Bad SnowFall Hits South Africa As Travellers Ask To Reschedule

The South African SA ministry of transport has advised motorists to comply with travel advisories and delay non-essential travel due to severe weather conditions. Residents have also been issued safety tips for their movements to avoid being stuck on roads to to snowfalls.

There are warning signals from South African Meteorological department and that of transport ministry sensitizing residents of the dictated severe weather condition seen prominent in the country at the time of filling this report by 9News.

Princely Onyenwe of 9News Nigeria reports from South Africa that the Minister of Transport, Barbara Creecy, and the Deputy Minister, Mkhuleko Hlengwa, few moments ago gave advise to South African motorists traveling between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal to delay their trips due to severe weather conditions.

The warning alert from various camps was based on the reason that for more than ten hours before this report by 9News Nigeria, snowfall has continued to be heavier and thicker than ever experienced in SA and that has led to the directives issued to motorists and travellers to standstill or better still reschedule movements pending when the weather will become favorable.

At meantime, reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) has despatched a team of Paramedics and Reaction Officers in 4×4 Rescue Vehicles to assist motorists stranded on the N3 in Harrismith – Free State.

Motorists travelling between Gauteng and KZN are advised to delay their trip because at the time of filling this report by 9News snow has continued to fall on the N3 between Warden and Tugela Plaza in KZN and many travellers have spent the night at filling stations along the roads.

The meteorologists have confirmed the emergency heavy snowfall that has continued to blanket the N3 highway, particularly between Warden and Tugela Plaza in KwaZulu-Natal, making travel extremely hazardous.

At the time of filling this report by 9News Nigeria, SA, Travellers are by this notice from the Minister of transport and warning signal from the country’s Meteorological service asked to reschedule their tickets and motorists asked to avoid driving or going out unprepared to avoid hazardous effects of snowfall which has resulted to bad weather in South Africa this morning.
