The Borno State Ministry of Information and Internal Security, in partnership with Peace Ambassador Centre for Humanitarian Aid and Empowerment (PACHE) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), is set to commemorate the United Nations International Peace Day.

Scheduled for tomorrow, the event aims to promote acts of peace, kindness, and solidarity with flood disaster victims in Borno State. This year’s theme, ‘Cultivating a Culture of Peace,’ aligns with the UN’s mission to strengthen peace ideals among nations and peoples.

The event will feature public lecture, dialogue session, peace ambassadors awards, empowerment kits for vulnerable communities, outreach to flood-affected communities.

The International Day of Peace, usually observed on September 21, was declared by the UN General Assembly as a day devoted to strengthening peace ideals. In Borno State, the day will be observed on September 28, 2024, in solidarity with flood disaster victims.

The day provides an opportunity for individuals, organizations, and nations to undertake acts of peace and kindness.

Following the commemoration, the Peace Ambassador Centre, in collaboration with Borno State Youth Peace Advocates, will commence intervention to affected communities within Jere and MMC on September 29, 2024.

The Youth Peace Advocates was formed by PACHE with support from the British Council to maintain peace and stability in the state.

More details of the activities will follow shortly.
