Buhari Administration spent eight years cleaning up PDP’s Phantom Economy – Felix Morka

The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka has made bold claims about the economic challenges faced during the Muhammadu Buhari administration, stating that much of the government’s efforts were focused on addressing the “mess” left behind by the previous PDP-led governments.

According to Morka in a recent appearance on Channels TV, the Buhari administration, which lasted from 2015 to 2023, inherited what he described as a “phantom economy” from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He argued that the economic growth under PDP rule was an illusion, masked by unsustainable policies and poor management.

“What Nigerians don’t realize is that the PDP operated a phantom economy,” Morka stated.

He further emphasized that the Buhari administration had to spend its time cleaning up the structural inefficiencies and debt burden left by the PDP.

Morka pointed to issues such as dwindling oil revenues, mounting debt, and mismanagement of resources as factors that hindered the Buhari administration’s ability to deliver more visible economic progress.

He defended the Buhari government’s performance, noting that much of its work was in stabilizing the economy, addressing corruption, and implementing foundational reforms in agriculture, infrastructure, and security.

Morka’s comments come amid growing debate over the performance of the Buhari administration and the current challenges faced by the Tinubu government.
