The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Former Nigerian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to The Russian Federation (with concurrent accreditation to The Republic of Belarus) Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah as Federal Commissioner for Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation & Fiscal Commission (RAMFC) today Wednesday 16th October, 2024.
Amb. Ugbah was appointed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the 7th of August 2024 to represent Benue State at the commission but the appointment was subject to Senate confirmation.
The screening committee was Chaired by Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi, Senator representing Kebbi North, other members included Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, Sen. Sarieke Dickson, Sen. Osita Izunaso, Sen. Prince Ned Nwoko and Sen. Abdul Ningi
Performing the screening exercise, the Chairman, Sen. Yahaya Abdullahi said based on available documents and presentations made by Prof. Steve Davies Ugbah during the screening exercise, he has satisfied the requirements for the appointment into public service.
Prof. Ugbah was screened amongst other commissioner nominees from other States. The confirmation of the nominees was duly in accordance with the provision of Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended)
The screening committee Chairman, in his remarks, congratulated the nominees on their confirmation by the upper chamber.
