An International Organization for Migration (IOM) is set to fund the Yobe Flood recovery strategy.

9News Nigeria correspondent learnt that the funding will come through its Rapid Response Fund (RRF).

Dr. Mohammed Goje, executive secretary of the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency (YOSEMA), disclosed this in a release on his Facebook handle.

As part of the project, YOSEMA has hosted Wadata Relief Care, a nongovernmental organization to ensure the success of the program.

According to Dr. Goje, about 5,704 households from four flood-affected local government areas are targeted as beneficiaries.

The LGAs he said includes, Bade, Bursari, Potiskum, and Yunusari.

“WRCI, with IOM’s support/Funding, will roll out lifesaving interventions in the flood-affected LGAs of Bade, Bursari, Potiskum, and Yunusari.

“This project will target 5,704 beneficiaries, including 2,000 male-headed households, 3,000 female-headed households, as well as 422 girls and 282 boys,” he explained.

He added that each household will receive a minimum expenditure basket worth ₦69,314, providing essential basic resources to help them recover and rebuild their lives.

While emphasizing on YOSEMA’s commitment in responding to tackling emergencies, the agency boss noted that they are ready to work with developmental partners in ensuring timely and effective interventions across the state.
