In the early hours of Thursday, October 24, 2024, a tragic accident occurred involving an oil well service company en route to an oil rig in Bonny Island, Rivers State. Reports indicate that a helicopter carrying staff to the location has crashed.

Casualties
Of the seven people on board, three bodies have been recovered.
- The Nigerian military is actively searching the area for the remaining four missing individuals. As of now, no further sightings of the missing person haavebeen reported.
