How Australian police officer secretly filmed and posted sex act with colleague

A police officer has fronted court today over claims he secretly filmed himself having sex with a female colleague and uploaded the video to Snapchat.

The married senior constable, Timothy Michael Patterson, was suspended from the force after the woman made a complaint to superiors last August and he was charged.

Mr Patterson, 28, has pleaded not guilty to three counts of filming the woman in a private act without her consent for the purposes of sexual gratification and of using a carriage service to menace, harass or offend.

The policewoman, who cannot be identified, says she consented to the sex act but alleges she did not consent to being filmed or having the footage shared.

The defence says the woman did consent to the filming.

The policewoman had been drinking wine at the Harbour View Hotel in Sydney at a mid-year police transport event, according to news.com.au, when the pair met and ended up going to Mr Patterson’s hotel room.

When she started to perform oral sex on Mr Patterson, she “looked up to see he had a phone in his hand”.

The woman asked him to put the phone away, but didn’t realise he had been filming, she told the court.

Three days later, she found a video of herself giving Mr Patterson oral sex on her iPhone and she deleted it.

A week later female colleagues approached her in the change room and told her that videos of her having sex with Patterson had been sent to at least one other male.

“She became emotional and immediately complained to senior officers,” Ms Cartwright said.

It’s alleged that the suspended police officer filmed the woman giving him oral sex without her knowledge or consent. (AAP)

When interviewed, Patterson said: “I asked for her consent and she gave it to me.”

But Ms Cartwright said the crown case was the woman at no time consented to him filming her “in particular not for the purposes of the accused and others receiving sexual gratification or arousal”.

The hearing continues.
