The High Court of Appeal in Abuja has reserved its judgment on the appeal filed by the governor of Rivers State, who is seeking to overturn the order that halted allocations to the state.
A three-member panel of the appellate court, led by Justice Hamma Barka, has adjourned the case to a date that will be communicated to the parties involved.
In his appeal, Governor Siminalayi Fubara is asking the Court of Appeal in Abuja to set aside the judgment that prevents the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from releasing monthly allocations to Rivers State.
The governor, represented by his counsel, urged the three-member panel, led by Justice Hamma Barka, to vacate the high court order.
He is requesting that the appellate court grant his appeal and nullify the unfavorable orders made by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in the judgment delivered on October 30.
Governor Fubara’s plea coincided with the Justice Barka-led panel’s decision to consolidate five other appeals related to the same high court judgment.
After all parties presented their briefs of argument on Friday, the panel reserved its judgment to be announced at a later date.
