The Finnish government has frozen all assets belonging to Simon Ekpa, the self-proclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), 9News Nigeria reports.
Ekpa was previously arrested by Finnish authorities on charges of terrorism and inciting violence through his social media activities.
He gained notoriety following the arrest of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu by INTERPOL in Kenya.
In a decisive action, authorities have also frozen the assets of four of Ekpa’s accomplices who were taken into custody alongside him.
According to a report by Yle, a local newspaper, Ekpa is currently being held at Kylmäkoski Vankila (Kylmäkoski Prison) in Finland.
Kylmäkoski Prison is recognised as one of the world’s toughest and operates as a high-security facility located on Vanhamaantie in Akaa, Finland.
