A three-day training workshop organized by the North-East Development Commission (NEDC) has empowered journalists and civil society organizations (CSOs) from across the North-East region.
The workshop, held in Maiduguri, aimed to equip participants with skills to foster peacebuilding and promote development in the region.
With 100 participants, twenty-five journalists and CSOs representatives attended the workshop, which covered topics such as conflict resolution, community engagement, and effective documentation of NEDC’s interventions.
The participants expressed optimism about applying the knowledge gained to improve reporting and promote sustainable peace in the North-East.
The trainees, selected from various media organizations and CSOs, were drawn from the six North-East states.
They were praised by NEDC’s Head of Corporate Services, Abba Musa, for their role in stabilizing the region.
Ambassador Ahmed Shehu, Chairperson of the North-East Civil Society Organizations, also commended the initiative, emphasizing its importance in building peace and strengthening non-kinetic responses to insurgency.
The training workshop is part of NEDC’s efforts under its North-East Stabilization and Development Master Plan to address the root causes of conflict and enhance harmonious coexistence.
