Man hides inside ceiling to avoid arrest after killing wife over alleged infidelity in Akwa Ibom

A man identified as Victor Okoh, 42, is now cooling his heels in the custody of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command in Uyo following his arrest for alleged murder of his wife Victor Okoh, 38, at their house in Oron.

A statement released by Police spokesperson, on Monday March 17, 2025, said the officers responded to distress call from local residents around 05:20a.m.

Upon arrival, they discovered the gruesomely mutilated body of Mrs. Victoria outside the couple’s residence.

According to John, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), initial investigation revealed that Okoh attacked his wife with machete after accusing her of infidelity.

The Police spokesperson said in an attempt to evade capture, the suspect hid in the ceiling of their home.

Police operatives secured the premises, forced entry, and successful apprehended him.

The machete believed to have been used in the crime have been taken for investigative purposes.

Meanwhile, the victim body has been deposited in the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while Victor remains in police custody as Investigation continue.

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the incident and assure the Public that justice will be served.

CP Azare also urged residents to seek peaceful resolutions to disputes and to avoid resorting to violence.
