Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has once again criticized the Bola Tinubu-led administration over the worsening state of insecurity in the country.
Reacting to the recent killings in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State, Atiku lamented the frequency and normalization of violence across the country, noting that many tragic incidents no longer even make it to the headlines.
He described the government’s security architecture as a failure that has become “an endemic nationwide phenomenon.”
“The failure of Bola Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon, with repeated killings more of which do not even make the headlines,” Atiku said in a statement on Today.
He expressed sympathy for the victims and families affected by the latest wave of violence, saying: “Nigerians are now being forced to get used to such news of wanton killings, and I again offer my condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and the affected families.”
The former presidential candidate restated his call for a complete overhaul of the current security strategy, urging the Federal Government to prioritize the safety of citizens.
“I wish to restate my counsel to the Tinubu-led Federal Government to reconfigure its security architecture to meet the needs of protecting the lives and properties of our people,” Atiku said.
The comments come amid growing concerns over the spate of attacks in parts of Nigeria.
