Nigerian troops have killed 61 terrorists in Mallam Fatori, located in the northeastern region of the country.
According to reports, the attackers attempted to infiltrate a military base in Mallam Fatori, Borno State.
Sources indicate that both the Nigerian Army, and Air Force engaged the terrorists, successfully eliminating at least 61 of them in the town.
A report by Zagazola Makama, shared on X by Bayo Onanuga, a Senior Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Strategy and Communications, said the assaults occurred when the terrorists tried to storm the military base in Abadam Local Government Area, Borno State.
Security sources noted the insurgents attacked early Wednesday morning on foot and also deployed drones in an effort to breakthrough the base’s defenses.
However, the combined response from ground and air forces proved stronger than the attackers.
A statement from Nigerian AirForce’s Director of Public Affairs and Media, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, also confirmed operation, and it was shared by former Army spokesman Usman Kuka Sheka on Facebook.
“The joint operation successfully stopped the insurgents from breaching the security perimeter, reinforcing efforts to stabilize communities along the border”, the statement said.
